I went to a gun shop today and found a chrome Llama .45 for $250. I have heard that Llamas aren't very good guns so didn't buy it. Is it worth going back for? If so how hard would it be to find replacement parts and magazines for?

I rode my Llama Mini Max .45 from Peru to Texarkana with no malfunctions of any kind. I got rid of it for the matte finish rusting overnight, and the fact that it wasn't milspec. Still a good piece fer the money, IMO...:shades:

as ever,

I have had one for many years. Put a match bushing on the front and it shoots holes whereI point it.

I'm convinced there's no way to tell anyone how good or bad the Llamas are. I once had two identical .45's, both excellent condition/used, purchased at different times hundreds of miles apart. One was nicely finished and worked well,.....looked to be a good quality gun. The other was a POS, poorly fitted and rough all over. Neither had been touched outside the factory I'm sure. The serial numbers were 11 apart.

I have the Llama Maxi-I and the Firestorm .45 Gov't, both are the same 1911 clone from Gabilondo in Spain. They both shoot FMJ just fine, but they don't like hollow points. Most regular Colt pattern 1911 parts do not fit(grip panels, ect.) without some WECSOG. They do feed all my magazine's, even the Colt mags that my Springfield 1911A1 won't take.
They are not as "nice" as my Springfield, but they work fine and they cost half as much so I don't worry about anything happening to them.

Thanks for info guys. Just got back from buying it this morning. Probably wouldn't have bought it without the feedback. Better thing is that it's stainless not chrome so the pimp factors gone:) . With a .45 being $250 it's like a sore d**k, ya can't beat it.

That should be readily fixable.

My Mini-Max was the same way and then I had the ramp polished and it made a world of difference. Eats it all now.

Doc,

where can I find a match bushing for mine? Does it use a standard 1911 bushing?

Thanks!

I too would buy the llama, reason why (Cheap) like i said in another post i have lost my springfield 1911 a1 in stainless on my quad. Wasnt paying attention. Buy the time i realized it. It was gone and had to backtrack not knowing where to look. i got so pissed at myself stupid, stupid ,stupid. there goes $700. So now it has to be replaced so i got a new glock 21c. now im in the hole $700 + $550 = Yes i have a lanyard for it no i didnt use it yes i guess i deserve it Stupid, stupid, stupid. In short if im going to lose $$$ $250 is better than $700. That was my first 1911 and i cherished it. And yes im heart broken, And still pissed at myself. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid. Ok im done.

2sav, I know the feeling.
I had my first Microtech UT6 OTF D/A automatic knife clipped inside the front pocket of my jeans. On a trip, I got out of my car at a rest stop. Sitting pushed it up and the clip came off the pocket. Apparently it fell out as I left the car and I didn't notice. I didn't realize it until the next rest stop, about 400 miles later. $400 for a knife, and gone from stupidity. Whoever found it probably has no idea of what it's worth.

Luckily I had another at home, but losing it was a bitter pill to swallow. I don't know what I'd do if I lost a gun the same way.

I feel your pain.

HAD one many years ago.

The slide snagged the thumb safety & bowed it out of the frame while firing conventional 230gr ball.

I would NOT bet MY life on one.
