Guess I might as well use lead for my plinking loads. Who do you guys buy from for lead rifle and pistol bullets. Total cost to my door is the primary concern.

If you can purchase them locally, I have a feeling you'll be better off. Shipping will cost you quite a bit. (Qty. 500, 125gr, of 9mm weighs close to 9 pounds.)

Using the UPS on-line calculator, it would cost me almost $8 to ship 9 pounds down the street. Almost $14 to ship from PA to CA.

There are some initial start up costs, but casting your own is pretty damn cheap. Plus the money you save on bullets pays for the equipment pretty quick if you shoot a lot.

Would love to, but not available locally. becides, the USPS flat rate priority takes care of all but $8.10 of the shipping charges.

Another vote for casting. I had a neighbor with a gunshop get me started, casting 358gr 38s for him. Used his equipment and paid for my first 44 S&W. Then I had to cast to be able to afford to shoot at all, then got into cowboy stuff for a while. Been casting about 16 years now, and find it another fun part of the hobby.
