Not too long ago, I destroyed my entire stock of powder because a lot of it was very old and starting to deteriorate. I'm going to be starting over with all new powder, but I want to start with a base supply of a few very versatile powders (3 or 4) that will cover most of my needs. I can then add small quantities of more specialized powder as needed.

Here's what I'm currently set up to load:
223
22-250
6.5x55mm
30 Carbine
308
30-06
380
9mm
38spl/357mag
44spl/44mag
45ACP

In the future, I may consider loading the following:
40S&W
7.62x25
45-70

I'm thinking H4895 will cover the rifle calibers pretty well, but I'm not sure what to get to cover the rest. Any suggestions?

4895 is good. The pistol calibers, maybe Unique. For M1 carbine H110.
Look in the manuals.

AA No. 9 will cover almost all the handgun calibers.

H335 or BL-C(2) will get everything thru 308.

H4895 will get all the rest.

These are not the best for each but you said you wanted "three" to deal with.

H110 will work well for .30 carbine, .44 mag and .357 mag. Unique will cover all other handguns. Anything in the family of H335, AA2230, WC846, BL C2 will cover most of the rifles. IMR 4895 can be used in all the rifles, but will be a PIA with .223 and may not be best for .45-70.

I have touble with Unique not metering well but W231 is great. Universal could be an option also (although it did not do well in my 45) - very good in my Glock 22 and Ruger 45LC. H4350 is a versitle rifle powder to consider also.

Thanks for the input guys!

I think I'm going to try W231, H110, BLC2, and H4895 to start
