Hi All
As I am looking around. I see that there are still some of the pull down powders avalible. But they don't say on the sights what they can be used with. Anyone know of a list of what powders will work with what caliber? Or have real world use of some of them. I am looking for powder that can be used for 308, 223, 45acp, 9mm.

Thanks for any help

it would help more if I knew which powders, then I could go to their web site.

I do beleive each powder manufacture has a web site and they will tell you which powder is usually used for each caliber

WCC 846 can be loaded using W748 data.
WCC 844 can be loaded using H335 data.

Either of these powders can be used to load 308 or 223.

Hi Muggzy
I don't think they will be listed being there surplus and pull down powders. But I can find thease ones. Found them on Pats Reloading, Hi-tech ammo and GI Brass. Most of its from 20mm or 50cal. Now one sight listed a couple of conversions but not having my load manual at work I can't tell if they would work for 308Win, 223Rem, 45Acp or 9mm. I was hoping that some one that was using them would pipe in.

WC 820 Cross with AA#9
WC 860 Cross with H870 & AA8700
WC 680 Cross with AA#1680
WC 872 Cross with H870 & AA8700

These came from GIBrass.com No loads were posted just that they could be used with the info from those cross referances.

When you buy pull down powder do they send you a list of what it will work for?

Thanks

Hey Sarge,

I went looking too and found most of the ones you had listed.

No reloading info...yet

some of the FAL'rs here use the pulled powder, I'm sure they chime in

If I find some data that I think is realible, I'll post it

But the one I found had the cross-reference lilke yours so you (we) might go to those web sites and get some load data

I'll keep lookin'

I looked thru my Hodgdon manuel (uh..1985 vintage)

H870 said" to be very slow burning and and adaptable to overbore capacity magnum cases such as .257, .264, 270 and 300 magnum with heavy bullets".

That doesn't tell me much because I don't have any other manuels in front of me.

I'll browse some more

later

Only Surp powder I'm familiar with is WC 846.

47.5grs in .308 case gave 2750fps in an M1A with 147gr fmj.

It's been awhile and haven't seen any around lately.

I've been getting WC846 from Pats Reloading for my .308 loads. The label on the jug says to use BLC-2 loading data.

Well Pats has it for 99 bucks a keg. This up 20 from recent, and up 30 from last fall.

No thanks. I will buy new commerical for $15 more, and have a better selcetion, and nicer powder. Varget, 4895, 4064, you name it.

Do you pick up the powder locally or online? What web sites?

I have some Varget for 223. Does anyone like it for 308?

locally to avoid hazmat at gunshows.... $112-$115 a keg. Not that Ive bought any lately as I dont need it. I did buy a pound of varget though at the last show.

Varget is GREAT for .223 AND .308. Pair some varget with 168gr FMJBT match bullets and you have one nasty nasty match load. I used to shoot varget in my Match .308 loads for my Remmy 700 VSS before I sold it. Gunsmith Tony uses it in his pet FAL load too.

Varget, 4895, and 4064 are my personal favorites.
