Sorry if this was already asked. I searched and found some posts that are close to my question , but not quite what I'm looking for.
I bought an FAL a few years ago from a shop that use to put build them. The upper receiver is a geared Imbel. It was built in the configuration of an STG. Is there anyway to ID the manufacturer of the lower receiver? Since the shop built the gun I'm not certain the lower is of Imbel manufacturer. It's a type three (no lightening cuts), has a 5 digit number and the safe and fire positions are marked with an S and E.
Thanks.

to the best of my knowledge it appears that you have an imbel gear receiver.
they were made in brazil by Imbel. it is my opinon that it is the BEST FAL receiver. i have had 3 of them. they are great.

hope this helps.

Your decsription of the lower does not bring me to a clear answer as every SEC lower that I have seen was a Type 1. Could you provide pictures. They would he;lp identify all the parts on your rifle.

I agree with Rooster. Sounds like a stg on Imbel receiver. Selector positions on stg are S E and funny looking "D". My stg has a 5 digit ser. no. also.

Type 3 lightening cuts don't add up however.

Thanks guys.

Just to clarify, the upper is an Imbel, the lower is the component in question. There aren't any lightening cuts.

One other piece of information I've noticed is that the the bolt is serialized to the lower receiver.

Anyone know the words for fire and safe in Portugese? That would probably tell the rest of the story.

Sorry, camera is on the fritz.
