Stoney point guage for FAL

I want to get a stoney point OAL gauge and would like it to work for my FALs, AR10, and bolt guns. Does the straight one work for FALs and AR10?

I will use it to check for a short throat in a DSA barrel and erosion in others since I plan to use mag length ammo.

It should work in any action where you can "break" it like the FAL.
The whole thing is about 14" long with the internal rod extended back, but that's the only issue I can think of.
I would block the action from closing though. As the steel halves slamming shut on that little aluminium "U" section will mess things up.
