GO/NO GO GAUGES

Are the headspace gauges the same for .308 and 30-06?
I didnt think they were, but I have a debate with a guy that says they are the same.
Please give me your.02 worth.

The .308 case is a 1/2" shorter than the 30.06. I'm not a reloader, but I think you can use the same dies, that may be what he's thinking about. :)

Nope, can't use the same dies either. Gauges and dies are different.

A .308 die due to its short length will not size a 30-06 case all the way to the web of the case and a 30-06 die would not size the neck and shoulder of a .308.

Nope, base to sholder is the key, 30-06 is a lot longer. .308 gauge can be used for the family of cartridges based on it's case like 7mm-08, .358, I THINK. Check with the manufacturer.

Correction to my previous post. There is one thing a .308 die can be used for on a 30-06 and that is neck sizing.
