In a recent post, I asked about using WD-40 for case lube.
http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=183118
You guys were right - the right stuff is the way to go. I went to Bass Pro and bought an RCBS case lube kit and HOLY ^%$#!@# <--pick your expletive and insert here
Why did I not get the right stuff years ago?? Lake City .308 may as well be commercial 9mm for how easily it runs. WOW!!!!!!!!
I did booger up the shoulder on the first few cases till I found the actual amount of lube required. I don't load my plinking rounds to max specs, so I'm not worried about the slight difference in case volume.
Thanks guys.

Though I haven't started yet, Imperial is on my "must have" list.

Hate to poop on the wax parade, but have had Imp. Wax for 20+ years and do not find it to work as well as other lubes, especially RCBS II. In loading 5.56 lubed with Imp., case rims were tearing out until relubed With RCBS. In 7.62x51, sizing effort was greatly reduced changing from Imp. to RCBS.
I have used Imp. Wax for years on cases being neck sized or limited sizing, but on full length sizing on mil cases I'll stick (or not stick) with RCBS.
Just another opinion, what works for one doesn't always work for another.

Not to be a STICK in the Mud er nuthin mind you..
BUT~ Why bother with a Lube Pad when you can use a Spray?
I have used the Pad (years ago), and it works/worked well..
But IMHO nothing is "easier/better" than the sprays available now..
I just line up the cases in my holder and lightly spary one side, flip the holder and repeat on the other side. Let it sit fo a Minute and go to town. Although I have not tried it I would imagine you could lube a pretty good size batch but I do mine in 20-50 pc batches, depending on the round/case.

The WAX is most certainly useful when working with a Cartridge that must be "FORMED" IE: .300 Whisper where the Parent case neck is small, and the new NECK is made much larger than original. Lubing the INSIDE of the Case neck is indeed a VERY good idea for this process..

I have to second the opinion on the Hornady One Shot. I have been using it for years. I have not stuck a case, dented a shoulder or buggered up a case rim since I started using it. The real neat part is even if you are carless with the stuff it will not effect primers or powders.
I have a wooden tray, approximately 6 x 8", I stand the cleaned cases on end with a small space between them, spray the whole batch, waite a few minutes and size away. It is important to follow the directions on the can, clean the resizing die and initially pre treat with the lube. Before I came to work today I sat down, lubed and sized 80 7.62 cases in about 20 minutes. By far the most time consuming part is standing the little buggers on end on the tray.

I put mine in a coffee can about 1/3 full. Then I shake and roll so most of the cases are neck up. Spray and reshake, spray again and then put cover on and shake it up for a little while. Not every case neck gets sprayed, but most do and the die stays lubed for the few that didn't get hit.
Haven't had a problem in over 5,000 cases reloaded.

try this ..dillon lube on a swab (like in a pvc glue container) ...keep it in the lube and swab the (hopefully) carbide die every 10 rounds ....instead of spraying down all the cases ..way faster and cleaner ...for me that is ..results may vary ...he he

I haven't used the lube pad systems for about 15 years or more
...which was the same time I found out about Dillon's spray lube. I haven't used anything else in the last 15 years of reloading. I haven't had any problems with the spray lube and find it much easier than the lube pads.

If Imperial doesn't work for you you're doing something wrong! If you ever get it right you'll never go back to anything else.
Opinion only. Backed up by 30+ years of experience.

definately like spray the best-it won't bunch up at the shoulder-I put about 50 in a bin at a time-spray with one hand shake -shake the bin like popcorn with the other-it's been years since I have had a shell get stuck- RCBS or One Shot work fine

I have been using the Dillion spray since '94. Threw out the pad. I put as many as possible on a foil lined cookie sheet, spray, wait a minute or so and start sizing. Haven't tried the RCBS spray but One Shot gave me problems.

I have stuck cases with One Shot and gave up on it. I have not tried the Dillion spray but think I will after reading all these positive posts.

Get the Dillon spray lube. One spray bottle will do well over ten thousand cases if applied properly. I've used it for .223 and .308 and never came close to sticking a case.

I have not used one in years. Definitely old technology!
Greasy kids' stuff. The spray (or the pump) is the way to go.

I agree...
I really like the RCBS II, and I'm not a great fan of the Imperial Sizing Wax (although it works all right)...
I find that I can control the amount of lube that's applied to the case much easier with the RCBS II, with no build-up of lube in the die...
Personally, I'm not much of a fan of the new, spray-on lubes...
Then again, I'm old and set in my ways...
I found what works well and stick (:)) with it...

Hey guys, this would be my first post on your site, I am new here so be gentle. I picked up my first fal a year ago and as we speak I have a parts kit in bound. I've come from the 1919a4.com site, the 1919a4 semi is one of my other babies I have to feed with 308 ammo and it eats alot of it, which is why I reload alot. But back to the point, I like the dillon spray lube alot, I just don't like the price, so I make my own. All it is, is alcohol and lanolin, if you haven't seen this site it's very informative http://www.frfrogspad.com/homemade.htm#Sizing
I load 1000 at a setting and haven't been able to do more than 2000 cases with one bottle of dillon spray, which is fine. Now I go to the local Safeway super market and pick up 99% alcohol and have the wife bring home some lanolin ( she is a maternity nurse, and nursing mothers use lanolin on their, how should I say this, were the baby feeds from. Anyway I get free sample tubes of 100% pure lanolin, who would have thought feeding babies and my rifles would have so much in common.
:)
Thanks for the info...
And welcome to the falfiles...
