Will bed liner work on plastic handguards like Imbel?

Yep - it'll work swell. Prep like paint. Make sure you sand off the mold seams and take the shine off the plastic. Degrease it or it'll peel off.
Apply several coats rather than one FAT one. If you like a rougher surface, apply the last coat around 20" - 24" away from the surface.
It's very durable.

Gaspipe if you sand do you still need to degrease? What do you mean degrease?

Degrease with brake parts cleaner, acetone or lacquer thinner. Don't use the spray Carb cleaner, as the companies that make it are adding an upper cylinder lubricant to it (oil). The reaosn for degreasing is that oil will find it's way in between the metal ends and the plastic/fiberglass/bakelite material that the hand guards are made from. Spraying over this film of oil will cause the paint/bed liner material to lose it's adhesion and peel off. HTH, Dan.
