I am in the process of building a G1 clone. I have decided to use the Brownell's Teflon/Moly gun finish over the park. This is an epoxy-phenolic resin that is heat cured after being sprayed on. I have done almost all of the parts (with great results) but I have some concern about the DSA charging handle and the DSA carry handle that I have chosen - will the plastic parts stand up to the heat curing process. The curing process requires only 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. Does anyone have experience with this?

I know I could drill the rivet and remove the plastic knob on the charging handle. I am trying to avoid that. On the carry handle, I cannot remove the circlip. Anyone have any hints on how to do this???

As always, thanks for your help.

No, Do not bake the plastic at temps higher than 150F

They will melt !

I was able to melt Tactical Tim's G1 chg handle knob easily. :) StG stuff has gone through the gun kote oven w/o a problem (so far).

My imbel carry handle turned into a large black puddle of goo. Charging handle survived though.
