View Full Version : Muzzle Brake Timing (index)?

September 20, 2001, 19:20
I just purchased an Entreprise "Zero Climb" muzzle brake to mount on to my IMBEL threaded barrel. It screws on easily but when hand tighten (bottomed out) it is about 15 degrees over timed. Should the brake be timed (torqued)and silver soldered or is it OK to back off and, while indexed properly, silver solder? It is very easy to turn and may be hard to keep indexed while heating up. Please advise.

It does NOT need to be "bottomed out."

It isn't going to move by accident after you glop-on the silver-solder paste.

Glop it on
Screw it on
Fire up the match torch
Let it start to turn dull red
Turn off the torch
Let it cool
Shoot it!
