I am reloading some FMJ 55 gr bullets for my AR-15. The book sez"crimp the neck in the candelure(sp?).
My question is can you use the Full lenth sizing die with the expanding ball removed to slightly crimp the case after seating the bullet. I full lenth resize on a separate press, before I use my Dillon 550.
I shot off 25 this morning with no problems, after I shot my 4x5 deer on the Colo. plains, near Ft. Morgan.
Thanx in advance,
MJRibley

The crimp should be controlled with your bullet seating die.

Oh and you definitely want a crimp for ammo used in autoloaders so that the bullet doesn't get driven down into the case when it is being loaded. That could lead to KABOOM!

What Tony says...

This is the best product that Lee ever invented...

Once you use it, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it...

Ive been shooting AR types in competition for going on 10 years. Always use Sierra or Hornady match bullets with no can... cannu... crimping groove. Never crimped a single round and never had a single problem. Thousands and thousands of rounds.
