Would a blob of weld on the pin holding in the indexing washer be considered a permanent attachment? Or does the thingy have to be welded/attached to the barrel?

If you're trying to attach the originbal L1A1 FH, you MAY NOT do so, weld or no, on a post-ban kitted receiver.
The REPLACEMENT MB or weight must be permanently attached to the BARREL if the barrel is threaded.

I was looking at the RPB US made brake. Looking for the easiest way to attach. I have a 10lbs spool on the MIG welder but no silver solder.

MIG is 'permanent'!

I wanted to weld up the indexing disk and pin. My welding skils, or lack of, keep me from wanting to weld the brake to the barrel. As my brother keeps reminding me, I have a welder but I'm by no means a welder.
I stop making this more difficult than it has to be and get some silver solder. :(

Silver solder is relatively easy, especially the paste. Smear (not too much; it'll go capillary as it melts), index, heat carefully and evenly, and VOILA!
