View Full Version : Make my G1 Kit into a Para

I've got the kit, but no upper. Beside the para lower and cover, what else do I need? Is the bolt carrier different? How about the upper reciever. I've done a search, but want to make sure I have this right.

Thanks

To make your G1 into a Para you need:

1. Metric upper
2. Para lower
3. Para folding stock
4. Para bolt carrier
5. Para recoil springs (2)
6. Para top cover

The metric upper will cost more than your G1 kit is worth, as will the Para parts. You'd probably do better just to get a para kit.

you'll have to relieve the upper to do an authentic para.. the correct dust cover has a nose on it.. the rear sight is different too.

I want a cooler franken-PARA. I bought the kit from TAPCO for like $90. (Remember the good old days?) I already have two conventional FAL's, but no PARA carbine.

I want a PARA carbine.

Finally getting back to this. Looks like this will do the trick:

Am I correct?

That has everything except the rear sight. Falcon does have a cheaper para package, if you don't need the compliance parts.

I might be willing to take your G1 kit on trade against one of these... http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=189146

FWIW, my first short gas para was an attempt to make a short 'G1' as well. I even tinkered with the idea of cutting and welding G1 metal handguards.
