Hey guys can anyone tell me what would cause trigger slap. On a maadi ak-47? should i have trigger work done or just replace the whole thing with the red star kit. And has anybody done that before and was there much of a difference. Thanks.

you can do trigger work or get one of the tapco kits.

I went with the latter choice for my SAR-1. made a world of difference.

forgot to add, it's bad geometry on the disconnector.

do a search on "AK-47 hammer slap fix", if you don't find it, post here and I'll send you the link.

Great thanks for the info i will try a search and see what i can come up with. I will probably end up taking it to a gunsmith for the work and just wanted to know if the red star assembly was all that. I think the tapco is less than half the price of the red star. Thanks again.

It's a relatively easy fix, check this before you spend money on a smith:

Also, look at the FCG polishing link on the page. That is usually all I have to dod to get mine to stop slapping. If you're not comfortable doing the work by all means, seek professional help.

Buy a G-2 and be done with it. Best $35.00 you can spend.

Double hook for milled receiver, and single hook for stamped receiver.

Even better yet get the combo deal with the retaining plate. http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?id=d38c6985-7285-4ab1-9f60-4eae4cc2afa7

If you get the retaining plate it shouldn't be any problem. The retaining plate replaces the factory shepords hook, which is a real pain in the a$$.

not to hijack this thread, but any of ya'll have any info on ridding a Cobray M-11/9 of triggerslap? Had this thing for years, don't shoot it much. POS, but still kinda fun to blast with on occasion. REALLY bad triggerslap tho.

Fix it yourself. If you can field strip the rifle (and you should know how to do that or get rid of it), you can install a new trigger group in about ten minutes. Do get the retaining plate. It is much easier to install the parts with one of those than the retaining wire that comes with the gun. The difference will be remarkable.

Or...you can go ahead and pay the gunsmith $50 plus the parts. The choice is yours.
