View Full Version : Field Expedient Windage Adjustment Spring (aka 'S' Spring)

Using a #8 Clip, Paper, Metallic:

#1 Straighten out the clip, using Pliers, Slip-Joint.
#2 Flush wound with peroxide, after catching finger between jaws of said Pliers, Slip-Joint.
#3 Cover with Band-Aid(TM)
#4 Using Mk 1, Mod '0' Eyeball, measure off the end, approximately 3/16", bend 90 degrees.
#5 Repeat Steps #2 and 3.
#6 Using Mk 1, Mod '0' Eyeball, measure off approximately 3/8" (the width of the extractor groove on the base of the 7.62mm NATO cartridge), bend 180 degrees around a rounded object. The tip of the 7.62mm Ball projectile works.
#7 Repeat Steps #2 and 3.
#8 Using Mk 1, Mod '0' Eyeball, measure off approximately 1/2" (the width of the base of the 7.62mm NATO Cartridge base). Bend 180 degrees around the before mentioned rounded object.
#9 Repeat Steps #2 and 3.
#10 Using Mk 1, Mod '0' Eyeball, measure off approximately 3/8" (the width of the extractor groove on the base of the 7.62mm NATO Cartridge). Bend 180 degrees around the before mentioned rounded object.
#11 Repeat Steps #2 and 3.
#12 Using Mk 1, Mod '0' Eyeball, measure approximately 3/16" (the diameter of the primer insert in the 7.62mm NATO Cartridge).
Bend 90 degrees.
#13 Repeat Steps #2 and 3.
#14 With the field expedient windage adjustment screw held in the horizontal plane, clip the ends in the vertical plane, with Pliers, Wire-Cutting, Needle-Nosed.
#15 Repeat Steps #2 and 3.
#16 Install the field expedient windage adjustment spring in the rear sight base, per -10.
#17 Repeat Steps #1-16, as needed, due to launching the spring into orbit, due to the Band-Aids(TM) on your finger tips.

Can Curad(tm) bandages be substituted for where you have stated "Band-Aid (tm)?"
