View Full Version : timing barrel (trimming breechface)

Okay, I've bottomed out the chamber end of the barrel against the reciever. The barrel isn't quite timed. Without a lathe, how does one remove some metal from the end of the barrel or the end of the chamber well in the receiver?

Take a Mill file and give the barrel end nearest the chamber a few strokes it should not take a whole lot for it to time up.HTH

A file will definitly do it. I think its easier to take metal off the ass-end of the barrel with a file than it is to dremel-out the secondary receiver face.
That's why I chose to Dremel!
Anyhow, for every 0.0001736" you remove from the ass-end of the barrel, you advance your timing by ONE degree.

She has about two degrees to go, and ain't budging a "second"! ;)
