Since I'm gonna build up a G1, I thought I'd go ahead and try to turn my STG into a "sub-MOA abomination" ;) I was wondering if any of you guys have pics on the parts of a free float handguard? I'm thinking of designing a better looking (IMO anyways) FFHG. If it works out, I might have a small number of 'em produced.

Both DSA and Entreprise offer free float handguards that require no gunsmithing.

Ya. I know that but I want to build my own as I think the ones available are butt-ugly and could probably be designed to be more in keeping with the ergo-friendly form of the FAL. So I'm asking if anyone has details regarding the design.

Yeah they ARE ugly as sin. I have the DSA version. My gun did not shoot more accurately with it and there were huge point of impact changes between different loads(bullet weights, powder charges, etc.) when compared to outings with the stock STG handguards. I think a standard STG barrel is too thin to free float. I did shoot some individual groups free floated that were good but my average was bigger.
