Boston's Gun Bible recommends the TA11 with 2/4MOA red donut which is good for 0-200m work and still gest out to 300-800m with the reticular BDC.

I'd like it to be both CQB and 500m+

Also, do you recommend the ARMS mount? How much do they cost?

Thanks!!!! :fal:

I love the TAO1NSN on my mousegun, but (for me) it sits up too high for the FAL unless a cheekpiece is used. YMMV.

The ARMS #4 I have on a Para is a piece of crap. It loosened up badly early in it's life and has to be removed each time you pull the bolt out of the gun.
The bolt-on DSA mounts work pretty well as long as you don't remove them from the gun (RTZ is problematic). Also check out the GP slide in mounts, although they may sit a little high since they are designed to be used on both a Standard as well as a Para FAL.

For CQB, the best I've used on the FAL is the Aimpoint. I do wish it came with a smaller dot than 4 MOA, however. It can be used with both eyes open, can be mounted very low, and works pretty well out to about 300 Yds max. The newer Reflex dots have seen favorable reviews recently, also.

I think you saved me a bunch of cash, I think I'm going to keep my FAL iron sights, and put an ACOG on my Ar15 instead.

The AR ACOGs are cheaper too..

the compact acogs with the special mounts sit fairly low. the 2x20 has adequate eye relief and there is a 3x30 compact coming out with bdc and eye relief similar to a ta-11.

I put an EOTech 552 on an ARS FAL carbine with DSA rail; seems to work just fine. Very quick, but don't know how it will be at long range. I liked the sight picture and rapid target acquisition.

I got a scope (IOR 3-18) for longer range stuff.
