Ok, without going overboard and having 8,000 different forums, what sections / forums would you like to see for the AR side of things?

How about a:

Competition section. ( IPSC, NRA High Power, Service Rifle)

Home build it section (With a dull nail file and a Harbor Freight hand drill I built this fine lookin' gun! SEE!)

Look at my new stuff section (Look how much junk I can actually hang on one rifle?)

Trouble shooting section. (I bought this shiney super accurate reloaded ammo at a gun show and I thought I woud try it to see if it fits my gun. Now I can't get the bolt back to get it out without shooting it! What should I do?)

How to clean it section. (This one is always good to get a few fights started!)

Ammunition section. (AMERC Splits cases and accuracy is lacking)

Magazine clasification section. (I bought this wierd 44 round magazine. I think it was made from an old biscuit tin. The guy on the XYZ web site said all of the Special Forces guys use it. What is it? Can you tell me how to make it feed Hornady TAP?)

For Sale (Please buy my junk that I no longer want or need section.)

Colts Clunk, Rock River's Rock section.

'Possum a Huntin' section. (e.g. I shot 5 prarie dogs with my cat (DPMS) and three squirels with my snake (Bushmaster) and busted 6 beer cans with my Olympic.)
...

What do you think?

O'Possum/TX

p.s. I will be away from the computer for a few weeks so hop on!

I strongly back up the point that to many forums tend to spread out the conversations too much. might i suggest a copy of the FAL files to start off with.

Well, the first thing I'd hope is that there are several vendor forums, which would mean sponsorship and revenue, and the board could make money. That's always good. But I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.

Might as well start right out having a Dumping Brass forum. It'll be needed, I bet.

In no particular order.....

Marketplace forum.

Accessories forum. Maybe include Optics there. Accessories & Optics.

Gunsmithing forum. Maybe include Maintenance in that. Gunsmithing & Maintenance.

Troubleshooting forum. A special forum for problems would be a good idea, I think.

Mags & Ammo forum. It seems to me those two could probably go together.

Tactical Gear forum.

AR Variants. The place to talk about rifle, carbine, pistol, different calibers, A1 & A2 & A3 & A4 styles, and all the variations.

Legal forum. For all the wannabe lawyers.

Little Black Rifle forum. For discussion of the history, and also it could be a catch-all forum for anything that doesn't fit in some other AR forum.

General Firearms Discussion.

General Non-Firearms Discussion.

Want News & Politics over there, too? Some people would probably use it, but it might exceed your tolerance, I dunno.

A retro section

Will this be a separate forum, or a sub-forum?

Goderator

Separate more than likely

Reloading section. The AR15 is a quite capable 1000 yard rifle with special loads and bullets and an 1/8 twist.

A wastebasket that the mods use for all the mall ninjas that are sure to show up from "you know where".

Yes, a RETRO area. For all of us who think the SP1, M16 A1 was bad enough, but tolerable. Now comes all this tacticle schmactical BS making chicken poop out of liver stew.

(SORT of serious though, even if #1 Son thinks I am a FNFAL, 03-A3 fuddy duddy)

May I suggest a "ARFcom Refugees" forum.

It would be popular for people over EIGHT years of age, ....adults who know Bushmaster is NOT the ONLY manufacturer of ARs, ....people who also DO NOT drive a Ford Truck, ....and those that DO NOT shoot other people's pets (domestic cats).

Nope,...have THREE myself. That was not the point.

Just don't like people that think if you DO NOT have a FORD TRUCK you are not COOL!

I was referencing the "NARROW" mindset.

PS,..It is the BUSHMASTERS that SUCK!

I think we need to keep things simple. BUT we do need a retro forum and a market place for AR items so we do not have to wade through other stuff. AR only stuff that we can sell, buy and trade . No Fal stuff or AK stuff.

We also need a current AR /M16 forum.

and an accessories forum

I think those forums would really cover it.

Start with the basics & split the forums into subgroups if necessary - I keep getting lost on arfcom:o

Aint it the freekin truth:eek: Im away from the computer for a couple of months and everything has sub-divided and gone chaotic.....

....but I digress...............an accuracy/target/competition type venue dealing with ARish platforms would be nice.
