Anyone have any experience with the FAL PARA mount with the "Hensoldt-looking", 4X28 scope from Sportsman's Guide?
They don't tell you much and I am courious about the Origin, mount strength, reticle layout, return to zero, etc.... (especially where the PARA mount is concerned...)
SG FAL PARA 4X28 Scope and Para mount (http://www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=244587)

I see that the prices on the scope and mount are much cheaper at CTD, but the problem is, I need a "PARA " mount. CTD only has the "standard" FAL mount and the only place I have found that has it is SG and they don't sell the scope/mount seperately. I guess that means I get to pay the premium. (no biggie)
I am interested in the origin (is this a Belgian STG or a German G1 setup, or is it something else?) and peoples experience with durability and return-to-zero on the PARA mount version. I am also interested in an explaination of the reticle. Are the ticks on the horizontal stadia suppose to sudtend 1m at 100m? The few pics I have seen seem suggest this. Also, is there a BDC as part of this setup? If so, is it in the elevation dial or is there some sort of external BDC (cam)?
Thanks,

The SG setup in the link is simply an Argentine STANAG mount with a Tapco scope installed.
The mounts are avail. from Gun Parts Corp and Sarco in both standard and Para versions.

I paid 119.00 for mine, and mounted a Kaps 4x24 on it.....but any Stanag mount scope should fit one.
IMHO, I wouldn't waste my money on Tapco , Chinese made optics.....

If you want a real NIB Hensoldt scope, Dan's is selling them for $375 complete with a G3 claw mount.
You could sell the claw mount on ebay, and use it to finance a STANAG mount.
I'm tempted to do just that myself..

Have hensoldt from dan, stanag/weaver adaptor from arms/mountsplus, weaver cover, very happy.
Fals eat cheap scopes, nobody has a hensoldt break on them, and elevation dialed for 100m intervals is handy.
