View Full Version : How well does SUIT work on metric FAL?

I've become interested in getting a SUIT again. It would be going on an all
Imbel FAL in 50.00 configuration. I currently use an Aimpoint or a Nikon 4x. The Aimpoint is a lot of fun but I feel like I should have some magnifacation. I really need to put the Aimpoint back on the AR15 anyway. The Nikon is a great scope
Will the rear fixed sight get in the way with the SUIT mounted?
I know I will have to remove the tabs on the inch pattern top cover. Anything else I should consider?
Anyone have pics of a SUIT mounted on a standard 50.00 metric FAL?
Thanks,

Here's a pic of my stg58 with a SUIT. I tend to agree with DL, but there is somthing about the looks of a SUIT on a Fal, especially inch Fals.
I like the sight except for the narrow field of view, it's better than using iron sites.
I'll sell it to you with the mount for $240. plus shipping, If you want it PM me.
The optics are clear and the illuminator needs to be replaced. It's in very good condition.

What about on of those 4x or 6x Russian scopes. They have illumination and are supposed to be pretty tough? MGS had some a while back.
From what I can see from the photo it looks like the SUIT clears the metric rear
sight. Did you have to make any adjustments?
So many choices so little money!! My wife has had some health problems this year and that has been kinda hard on the budget.
I still really like the look and historic aspect of the SUIT. Of course it was used on L1A1's and I've got a metric FAL. But at least it was designed for a FAL type rifle.
I'm going to look around some more. Maybe I'll wind up getting a SUIT from one of you guys. Simmons makes a low powered variable that's illuminated and they are supposed to be tough enough.
Thanks for all the ideas...

I have the lower profile metric sights & the non-folding one will just fit under the SUIT if set to 300yds. By doing this the sight post goes far enough forward that it clears the extra thickness where the eyepiece fits. If you have the taller type sight I don't think it will fit & you'll have to change to the Indian folding rear sight. This is a lower profile than an inch & will allow you to (probaly) retain the existing front sight post.

A-A-a-a-a-a-ar-r-r-r-rg-g-g-g!
DON'T cut those tabs off!
WIth what unmolested, individual (w/o SUIT) t/c's and mounts are going fer; if ya can find 'em; ya'd be nutz to do it.:(
IF yer set on trying it, I'll send ya my "butchered" ( purchased that way) mount fer your unmolested. Mine's a later style, but I believe they will work. OTOH...all we're out is postage...right?
Regards,
Paul
BTW...that title line is just beggein' fer a S/A answer...
"same as on an inch gun!" ;)
Lemme know?

So when mounting the SUIT w/L1A1 top cover on a metric rifle, can one just bend the tabs out of the way. I would think it would be better to just cut the off.
Thanks,
Ray

I'm afraid not. To make it fit they have to be removed by filing off.
If you're concerned I'd take Deltaten's offer up.

No, I'm not really concerned about cutting the tabs off, I just wondered if
there was another way.
I think I'm warming up to the idea of a SUIT once more.
