I'm thinking about reconfig my FAL with a different stock as to get a more relaxed position with ironsites..most likely I'll scope it later . Any of you folks have experience with the SAW buttstocks....all input is greatly appreciated.............

JMHO, but I think the SAW stocks are way too fugly, but YMMV.

Humpback stocks like the Imbel work best for me.

The SAW buttstock for the FAL is displeasing to my eye.

If you need a higher comb on the stock to get a better cheekweld when using optics, I recommend that you switch to an STG style (non-humpback) stock. That will give you a higher head position without defacing the "look" of your rifle.

Also, there are generic gizmos that you can attach to your stock to get an even higher comb if necessary.

When the SAW stocks first came out I thought they were kinda fugly myself. Got a sample and installed the set on a type3 build I have and it's been on that rifle ever since. The most comfortable stock set I have ever shouldered on a FAL. Great for iron sights, red dots and low mounted scopes. There is some drop to the comb. But the riser on the rear makes up for it for most folks. The large swing up buttplate makes for a very stable and comfortable stock for all but those with the longest arms. Not for everybody of course. Lifetime warranty replacement and tough. Especially the T48 HG's.

yea whenever i see how the stock slopes downward i imagine it feeling odd. but ive yet to try it. my stock is still sitting in the closet. nice trapdoor too. something not all fal stocks have.

I just put a black set on the Stainless DSA receiver gun I'm building. Like GPG says, it is WAY comfortable, I really like where the gun sits now, the iron sights are a LOT easier to see. AND , I DO like the way it looks. Just MHO. Of course, my other 3 are all original ('cept 'ceivers, of course). DSG

I have used these stocks on a couple of customers guns and one of my own. Although they don't apear to be everyone's cup of tea. For bench rest shooting they are an outstanding stock. Locking your off hand to the bottom of the stock gives you a very secure platform. As all have agreed here they are not for everyone, but they do have some advantages for bench rest shooting. If you think you want some of these stocks you can see them for sale in the "MARKETPLACE" section at below cost sometimes or tapco sold some as seconds for a very reasonable price as well, also turning up for sale from time to time.

I think they suck. They change the geometry resulting in a realy awkward hold and pull. If you want one, I'll send you my old one for cheap, but i don't recommend it.

It is a matter of preference. I like they way it looks and the way it feels. I got a low mount for my red dot and the buttstock puts my eye at the right height.

Just had my son and one of his friends out. They looked at my G1, with wood, STG, a FAKE L1a1 (all woood furniture, metric everything), and my newest , the SAW stocked version on a stainless DSA rec. They both said the "coolest" is the SAW version. Yes, they are both 23 , not PURISTS. I wonder if a lot of the criticism of the SAW outfit has to do with the PURITY factor?? Just a guess.

They ALL shoot the same , nasty bullet, BTW.

Just some fun, to stir up the pot. LOL.

i have the SAW buttstock on my imbel kit gun. i like the feel and especially the way i can use the cutout at the bottom to push the buttstock against my shoulder with extra force. this is to say i shoot left handed so i hold the pistol grip with my left hand and push back ont eh buttstock with my right hand. i do this when i shoot off of a sandbag or the like.

thanx for all your input..i still only desire a more natural shoulder- cheek placement with ironsitesinstead of having to lower my head to get behind the site..I,m going with the DSA model..if i need to raise my cheek for sites i willadd apad. function..not fashion is my goal.
