I have had bad luck with 2 of these mounts for my fal, BOTH of them shot loose, one lasted 100 rounds, sent back, replacement lasted less than one mag, the rivets shake loose, seems that steel base welded to the cover is O.K., but the the steel base rivited to the aloy metal base for the optic just won,t mate. I paid good money for this pos and need to find a good base. Any body bought A good one that has not shot loose ?
Thanks, Mike

Yours is not an uncommon problem.

I've had one of three loosen up on me. I haven't used any of them all that much. There are a number of posts that offer various repair solutions. You might try the search function with a couple of appropriate key terms.

They are not all that difficult to fix, but I do understand your frustration in buying something that just doesn't hold up. Some of the mounts have square holes in the dustcover that allow easy access to the rivet, some don't. You can drill holes in the dustcover under the rivet holes if yours doesn't have the access holes. It should not adversely effect the integrity of the dustcover.

Some have used bolts and nuts that have been filed down to fit the tight spacing involved.

That's just one suggestion: others will probably chime in with other options. I hope you get it resolved with a minimum amount of frustration. Let us know how it turns out for you.

Thanks ARBY, here is what I did, I drilled holes near the rivets from the top down thru the dust cover, tapped the holes all the way even the stell, used a mill bit on the drill holes in the cover to open it up enough to flush fit a machine screw, ran the screws in with lock tite, used a dremil to cut of acess and finished by peening the end of the svrew. clean up with dremil, its tight now.
But my rifle is at sledgehammers for repair, so no field test for now.
