How to tell if a used scope is real

If yor buying a used scope off the internet or at a gun show how can you tell if real or a knock off. There seems to be a lot of close copies thease days.

Caveat Emptor. If the seller is not established or reputible, then I wouldn't do business with em. Bigant is a reputable source for optics at great pricess and is also a FAL Files member. Many of us have done business with him and he's a good guy. Check with him before sending money to a stranger.

As far as spotting a fake, if you can look through it like at a gun show, it should be easy to see the difference in glass quality/clearness (i.e. real leupold vs fake one).
