I took buttstock apart to service the area, good thing found dirt lots of old grease. unable to reassemble the same day, today I started to put it back together but the spring plunger won't go back into the guide tube this is strange since it came out but it won't go back in the same way it came out or did I forget how it came out?

Sometimes a "ring" og hardened grease will form right past the threads. I take a cleaning rod with stainless bore brush, wrap in steel wool till oversize, chuck in a power drill and Wrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrh! Cleans that puppy right out and makes it oh so shiiney. Don't crossthread please. I just bought a tap and die and you don't want to (15/32x36 custom made, $125)

thank you for the tip, I assume it hardened in the days I let it sit beacause if I remember, it came out real easy. I'll go try this right now
thanks

well I took it out and looked inside the recoil tube there's no grease that I can see, what I see is is where the threads end there's a step, it seems to be hitting a ridge around there its metal to metal contact. I was going to sand it but I might damage the threads what I'll do is install the recoil tube to the lower with spring & plunger inside from the other end then just ride the buttstock over it. I'm out
