View Full Version : SCOPE RING CHOICES MOUNTING AN IOR ON A DSA MOUNT?

Since attending Fred's Appleseed, I have been completely rethinking my MBR setup. I have an IOR 4x21 w/ the CQB, which I like very much, BTW.

I use DSA scopemounts that are secured with blue locktite and plan to locktite the ring bolts once I find an acceptable solution I like.

My issue is this:

First I had the Extreme Duty single ring from DSA and found that the IOR rested literally a hair off the picatinny rail, which is pretty low. In fact, so low, I had to remove my rear sight to get proper eye relief.

I really like to be able to use my sights w/o removing the optics, yet I don't want something that won't be return to zero upon removing, either. (ie. I want my cake, and I want to eat it, too!)

Additionally, I don't want my optics looking like a tower, when they are raised so high, I find them ridiculously close to something Hollywood would put together, not to mention needing a pillow for a checkweld....

The options, as I see it:

ARMS throwlevers (#22), either the medium or high, but the lowest possible while having a see through capability. As far as I can tell, only the high #22 has see-through capability... can anyone confirm this?

DSA QD see-thru's, however, they look too much like over the counter rings, meaning, they won't take the beating I am known to give my weapons, AND, I doubt they are return to zero friendly (or even acquantences for that matter...).

Does anybody have any other suggestions here? I have left the school of optics or sights only, and prefer both, I just need to figure out which is best, because my friends with FALs will most likely use the same setup for commonality reasons...

The IOR should have come with a picatinny rail adapter included so you just take it out of the box, and screw it on your rifle. If not, you may not have got what you paid for. If eye relief is an issue, you can get an elongated picatinny riser. ARMS makes them, but they charge too much. You can get them pretty much anywhere, ie Bushmaster.
