Yeah, I saw and read the similar post below. Still unsure. I too like the eotech, but I want to engage targets out to 500 yards. Not regularly, not trying to make it a sniper rifle, but I would like this to be my all around rifle. It is really awesome. I am going to a class in Sept. and they shoot out to 500 meters, and I would like an optic on it already----any opinions are more than welcome, and greatly appreciated. I am thinking either ACOG or some type of traditional scope, but would need to be at least usable at closer ranges----50 and 100 yards. Anything closer the sidearm will handle.----Thanks all

ACOG is a good choice.
You get what you pay for in optics.
...and you will pay a LOT for an ACOG.

For the money....I believe you cant go wrong with the Trijicon TR 21 or Leupy 1.5-5 Mark 4 SPR or TMR recticles.....They both can be fast for CQB (Not as fast as a Eotech) and they can be had for less money too...Plus longer eye relief.

Pretty soon I'm getting ready to put a Nightforce on my 18" FAL. I'm getting the 1-4x24 it has a 96' feild of veiw at 100yrds on the 1x setting. Realy expensive though.

I have had a Meopta 1x4x20 (30mm tube) on my FAL( Luppy Quick Release Rings) Carbine for some years.
Thousands of rounds through it.
Tough, OUTSTANDINGLY GREAT GLASS! Good price -$ -400-500'ish
FOV @100 yds= 111' (x1)

For your stated purpose - ACOG. (TA01B IIRC) A regular scope will be a pain at close range.
On my Para, I have an EOTech, which I'll use to 300 yards. Beyond that, a regular scope, which would be rare. When I get the cover I've been waiting for (picatinny), the regular scope will live on my "standard" fal.
I used to have an ACOG, but sold it when I sold my AR10. If I still had it, there's no question it's what I would use.

I didn't get the 1-4x24, but the 2.5-10x24. It looks real promising at close range when you turn the reticle all the way up and use both eyes(takes some getting used to) and you still have 10x for distance.

giilliiee, my dot covers 1.5 moa on the 10x setting so at 500m it will cover 7.5" which is good for me since at whatever range I can still consistantly put rounds into a 10" circle I'll call my maximum effective point range. I don't know what kind of accuracy AP101 is looking for though.
