I'm thinking about sand-cutting the numbered bolt carrier that came with my R1 kit. Does somebody have a clear pic or measurements of the slots? They look like 3/16", 1/4" or 5mm. If I can get the measurements from the end to the first slot, and the distance in between, I can do it up. I'm gonna use a carbide endmill to cut the slots.

Are you talkin about the inch zigzag cuts or the FN style metric cuts?

Probably go with FN metric-style cuts.

Mr. Pogo,
Outstanding! Just what I needed!
Looks like 0.960" from the face of the carrier. If I can get the depth and width of the slot, we're in business! And is it milled on both sides? The only one I saw in person was the Inch with zig-zag slots. This is simple, and does the job. Mill mine with a carbide endmill, parkerize with the rest of the kit, and she'll be looking good, Mon!

Bolt bottom view. Notice rails are thickest at 4 points only. RF and LF rails different contour from each other closest to bolt carrier front.

Mr Pogo,
Great pics. I'll put them in my FAL Book of Knowledge. Looks like the Israeli pattern. I'm gonna buy an inch-pattern sand-cut from Larry for my Bush Rifle. I may mess around and cut my spare in this pattern just for GP.
Thanks for your effort!
Thomas

Oh thought you knew, Izzys are cut identical to FN sandcuts. They then also designed forward assist to take advantage of the sandcuts.
