Im thinking of a Leupold MR/T 1.5-5x or CQ/T but am leaning towards the MR/t with an ARMS AimPoint mount and ARMS #4 top rail. This has better eye relief. I think the ACOGs are sitting too high for the FALs
Leupold MR/T 1.5-5x or CQ/T?
What about other scopes like the ELCAN?

the compact acog clears the rear sight by a hair.
I like the aimpoint, but its still too high.
I think you'll like the DSA better than the Arms. not as sleek, but better made.
Elcan is too heavy imho (and I like the PO3.5x but it's an AK thing).
View and flexibility from my Loopy VXIII 1.5-5x20 is outstanding! While you're shopping high end, see the IOR low power variable with the CQB reticle.
My main FAL now uses a Hensoldt 4x on an ARMS weaver/stanang adaptor, centerline of the optic is right about 1.5" above the weaver cover. With the Penguin stock it's a jaw weld that works for me, between cheek and chin weld. The elevation dial being notched in progressive increments for 100m amounts with milspec .308 is a nice touch.

Any pics?
What about a cheek rest for my para stock? Will that help?
Any recommendations for a cheek rest?

Your straighter Para stock will have a higher cheek weld than the drop of my Penguin/Imbel comb.
The lowX variables are much easier to shoot fast, both eyes open, up close, AND still reach out if needed with one optic. But sometimes you get lucky in the Hensoldt market.

I have the MR/T SPR on my para and like it. It has the DSA top cover, ARMS low slide in rings and the quick release base. It barely clears my rear sight with the Butler Creek lens covers.

That's what I went with, but I think he was looking for something with some magnification.
I haven't found any combinations that allow for a cheek weld identical to using irons, so I went with something that was close and worked well. I like the 1 MOA dot on the EoTech. I have been very seriously thinking about buying the Leupold CQ/T. Magnification is nice.

What are you going to use it for? Since it's a para, I'm ASSuming it will be for closer range type stuff. For anything inside 150 yards, I'd stick with the EOTech.

Why does everyone seem to equate the Eotech to
only close range use ?
I always see/hear it refered to as "good to 150 yards "
or,to 100 yards ,or ,something similar .
I'm not trying to flame anyone,I'm seriously asking !
At the last Mason Dixon shoot I took an Eotech 552
mounted on a PTR-91.
With the Eotech sighted in as dead on at 50 yards ,
I could easily ring any 12 inch gong out to 300 yards
by just centering the 1 MOA dot on the target.
I had to aim way high for the 600 yards gongs ,but even with the
18 inch barrel I could ring them quite a bit after a few trys at
getting the point of aim right.(Hi and to the left ,by a few feet)
This was my first time shooting with the Eotech at over 200 yards,
so with more practice I could do it more consistantly.
If your having difficulty shooting the Eotech at targets passed 100 yards,
than I think you need to play with your brightness settings a little.
I've found lower settings are easier on the eyes ,but I can find the dot
just as quick with practice.

It's not that the EOTech can't be used for long range, it's just that it really excels at closer range things. I routinely ring (more like "tink") the 200 yard gong with my EOTech-10/22 combo. At longer ranges something with some magnification (ACOG, etc) will be faster and more precise.

That's what I put on a 16 inch barrel FAL. Great scope for dual duty.

What GP said. The ARMS #4 will not return to zero after it's got a little age on it and it must be removed to clean the rifle. If not for that the Aimpoint would still be on mine. Wonder if I could get ce to peen it? :)
The iron flip sights work very well to 300M, btw.

I have not tried it yet but I was looking at:
1. M68 CQB sight by aimpoint
2. ACOG 4x
soon as I get my mount I will try those on the FAL:love:
