Hey all,

Close mate here has a Remington 700PSS in 7.62. He is just about to buy optics for it (Bigant take note). he was settled on the Mk4 10x40 LRT but I threw a spanner in the works and suggested a Mk 4 6.5-20 x 50 LTR. Now the only issue is, does the x50 objective lens present any problems in mounting and when mounted doe sit sit "too" high. I know You can mount about any scope on any rifle (use to use 8x56 out here on .17 Rems for foxes day in and out) but is it going to be uncomfortable or at worst unusable.

The problem down here is that such a combination is a rare bird so it is not like we can rock up to a shop or range and see such a set up in person.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

How is the cheek weld and such on that mate. He just read the thread (freeloading somebitch he is) here while he drinks my coffee and such.

Seems like a good rig, provided it does not sit RIGHT up in teh air I thinkit would be a winner.

I used to have a Leupold 4.5-14 x 50mm LR mounted upon a PSS. I was using Leupold Dual Dovetail rings in, I believe, Medium height. I didn't have any problem with the cheek weld using the PSS stock and I didn't notice much of a difference between that scope and the 1" tubed 3.5-10 x 40mm which I had previously mounted on that rifle. Of course, I would suggest getting the lowest height rings that will work.

It's not a Leupold (it's a Simmons) but the magnification range is the same, and the collective end is either a 44 or a 50mm. Can't remember right now.

The only issue is the hinge on the Butler Creek scope cap hits the barrel when you rotate the collective end to adjust parallax. The scope bell itself though is clear of the barrel.
