My TA11E and mount came in from DSA this week and I got it to the range today. I think this mount setup is probably the lowest one you can achieve with a ACOG on a FAL, and with my big head I can get a good cheek rest. The sights line up perfectly through the hole in the ACOG base. I shot 220 rounds with two failures. Two times a case bounced back into the chamber and hung up the round trying to feed. I shot some Aussie, Port, and Federal Match. My STG seems to like the Port FNM the best, which is great because that what I have the most of. :D
Here are the picks:

Very tasty.
Just remember: "A brown station wagon, with a white liscence plate, & a roof rack looks just like a deer from a bathroom window." (Jeff Foxworthy)
Is that poetic liscence, or can you really shoot 100Yds from your patio?

I wish! That was just a nice backdrop for the pictures. The shooting was done at the local county range.
It was really funny when I got there. The range master asked what I was shooting. I said "a FAL". He says "Whats a FAL". I said "you'll see in a minute" LOL!
That is a great optics setup there. A lot of FAL scope are set so high.
I have had the same problems with empty cases bouncing off the scope mount and remaining in the the action with my QD Pro. It too is about a one out of a hundred problem. I need to check out ggiilliiee's post on modifying the ejector.

Welcome to the FAL-COG Club! :D Nice ACOG setup...
If that mount was available a month ago I would have done that route first, but went with the ARMS since it was on sale and I like the removeable capability... So far, no failures due to the mount, but it does get beat up pretty good. Not returnable now...
I bet the flyer was the FIRST shot... My first shot from a clean barrel always flys off a few inches...

Here is my setup with a TA11-D now transplanted from one of my AR's...

I have a ta01nsn marked for 5.56 that I was told would work just fine on my para length barrel fal.....
did you guys feel the need to use a cheekpiece? when I put the acog on my extreme duty mount, I had to half chin weld it, and was thinking I should get that cheekweld pad from dsa....
any thoughts?

I'm still looking for a decent cheek rest... but, yes, it needs it.

I think the use of a cheekpiece is a little dependant on the sight's eye relief & position front-to-back.
When I use the SUIT I feel I can get a good position with a jaw weld, partly because of the height/position of the eyepiece. But when I use the 3~9 X40 in rings high enough to just clear the folde rear sight then I'm lost without one.
Maybe it's something to do with head & neck positioning for the longer eye relief, or the height, but it is definately different with the two sights on the same rifle/stock.

i joined last weekend about 300 rounds thru it..perfect..
was swapping back and forth from iron to acog....last 100 rounds were off; (
didtn have time to set up a site in range cardboard....was kind of disappointing..the mounts are all still very tight..
So..I guess it just leaves the acog? to adjust....the vibrations make it loose zero?

you may need to blue loctite the base screws that hold the acog to the mount,,,,,
I haven't had the problems you reported, but my screws are loctited....

It is unlikely your ACOG is defective... They are a FIXED power and very durable internals.
I suspect either loose screws (the FAL will loosen them up as I found out... now they are locktite'd) or your ARMS mount. The ARMS mount has been proven by many to be a NON_ZERO return mount less often than not.
This is one of the reasons I went with the Larue LT-100... about as repeatable as a direct mount.
Not familiar enough with the GP FAL rail mount you use to make a comment on that, but it too could be suspect.

You may be experiencing the slide-in mount loosening up.
Do you have the GP mount?mount group buy (http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=128962&perpage=30&pagenumber=40)
What upper recv. do you have?
How are you checking for play and loosness?
Check your slide-in mount for side-to-side/rocking loosness. Grasp the optic and move side-to-side while using other hand to firmly hold lower receiver. Watch the gap between the mount and upper receiver. Try it also with the receiver hinged open, watching the rear of the mount and receiver.
Try another optic to rule out the ACOG.

ok..sad to say..side-side movement detected...minimal..but its there..
So...now what?
arghh...Not completely pissed/dissapointed..as I needed a para-dust cover anyways to even shoot it..but would of been nice to last longer then 400 rds with an ACOG on it..
So..do i just hammer the GP cover so the tolereances are tigth again?..ouch
When i first put it on..it was EXTREMLY tight..had to use rubber mallet to.."tap " in

I have 2 acogs. With each the POI is 12 inches high at 50 yards. This is with the elevation screw maxed down. I had not problems sighting this rifle (dsa) in with a valdada. I'm at a loss atm?
Im also using the dsa acog mount with the ta-11E
Thanks,
Ron
