Any recommendations on the best Mount and ACOG for my STG? I was thinking on using an ARMS Original FAL Receiver Cover Mount, along with an 4x32 ACOG TA01B, or similar.
ACOG: http://www.trijicon.com/user/parts/products1.cfm?PartID=140&back_row=1&categoryID=3
Now, what about the mount for the ACOG? I would still like to be able to use my Iron Sights, but don't want the ACOG to be up too high either. Any suggestions?
I realize DSA is coming out with a Modified Extreme Mount, but I don't want to use one of those.

My opinion is that the SHORT EYE RELIEF ACOG you linked will knock you in the eye brow at times or give you a black eye if your not firm in stance and grip...
You would do far better with a LONG EYE RELIEF ACOG, such as the TA-11's...
As for mount, your SOL..!
The ONLY mount I have found for the ACOG that allows iron sight useage is the new DSA modified mount... That's it, as far as I know...
A Larue (or other brand) ACOG mount on a railed cover will put that ACOG way up there... You would need a cheek rest for your stock or a CUSTOM wood stock...
See my post on the ACOG question as well...

Well..it was worth a shot.
I guess I'll go with this ACOG then;
TA11C ACOG 3.5x35, calibrated for .308, dual illumination, red donut, BAC
Matted to the New, DSA Extreme ACOG Mount.

It's odd that I hear so many bad things about the ACOGS on FALs. People say it's too high, then I look at how high they are on the M14s in Iraq and nobody complains. Is the height really that bad?

Yes, an ACOG on an M14 would also be considered HIGH when one thinks of cheekweld and scopes...
But it isn't too bad and can be very accurate if you pay attention to where your cheekweld is, sometimes a CHINweld...
The highest is an ACOG on an AR15 carry handle, which is, BTW, exactly where they were originally designed to mount. :? Now, in the AR arena, we can have them back down to REALITY in a mount that attaches to the FLAT-TOP uppers... A very sweet setup!!!!
Ideally, in a perfect world, you want the scope to be as close to the bore line as possible, and an FAL already has a low barrel to top of receiver...
