Plan on adding my Trijicon TA11-D (3.5x with BAC), which is calibrated for 5.56mm 55g. from an AR-15 Carry Handle to my new DSA SA-58 FAL using their new Extreme Duty mount with ACOG mount machined in...

Has anyone used the full-size 5.56mm ACOG's on their FAL?

What distance did you zero the ACOG to?
How did the other 5.56mm 55g. meter stadia line up at those distances?

If no feedback, I'm getting ready to find out in a few weeks when DSA makes those mounts available.... With that mount, the usual cheek weld problems associated with additional rail mounts raising the ACOG high should be eliminated... plus, it allows you to use the 200 meter IRON SIGHTS at the same time for backup!!!! Woot!

I looked into the same setup a few weeks ago. I went through a few ballistic tables and found that the BDC should work just fine with either cartridge since they have similar drops. I believe just the other week someone actually tested a .223 camed SUIT scope and found that the .223 cam was the same as the 7.62. YMMV but I think you will be pleasantly suprised.

I have the same ACOG but on an ARMS #19 throw lever mount. Sits on a GP Scout receiver cover. I just shot at a 500 yd range a few days ago and was quite pleased. I zeroed mine for 100yds and was banging the steel plates at 500 using the hold overs on the ACOG.

That's what I want to hear...

Yes, you can use a 5.56 calibrated ACOG on a 7.62 without a problem. I did it for several years because I got a great deal on a used TA11-D. The caliber specific calibration is an adjustment guideline but will not prevent you from using it on other calibers. With alittle range time you'll get the hang of it.
I've since gone on to the IOR 3x25 tactical and IMHO found it superior the ACOG but thats for another thread. The reason why I mention it is because the IOR is also calibrated for 5.56 but used on my 7.62, again without problem.

How off were the holdover lines on your TA11-D? Do you recall?

I too got a good deal on the TA11-D and what I like is that it has BAC which allows fast, open eyed acquistion (like an Aimpoint, but different) for short range engagements yet almost instantly transitions to magnification for distant and/or precision shots...

Does the IOR do that as well?

As I recall, the TA11 5.56 gradient lines were pretty much dead on for 7.62 out to 200 yards (the length of my range), I suspect that deviation wouldn't be a factor except at longer ranges.

The IOR does everything right, I can't begin to express my satisfaction with this optic and for $600 new from SWFA, its a steal compared to most Trijicons. The recticle is one of the most user friendly I've seen although everyone will have their individual preferences. One thing that most will agree with, the optical glass is amazing, something that would make Carl Zeiss in his prime jealous!
