I have a 10 mm Colt Delta Elite semi auto pistol in stainless steel it has 325 rounds thru it. I have been trying to sell it is in very good cond.It was my sons gun. I have had offers of $100.00 TO $500.00 the book says $800.00 to what ever someone is willing to pay.
Are there any Colt guys out there that know these guns that could give me more of an idea what this thing is really worth.

I am no expert on this particular firearm but I can tell you this. 10 mm is good, no longer made. Delta Elite is good no longer made. I always thought the "Delta Elite" was a gimmick but that is me. IIRC, it was Colt's premium line in it's day.
The AR15 Delta Elite Hbar AR15 always commanded a higher price.
So I would stick with $600 or more and tell the guy that offered you $100.00 that he is crazy!

Any Colt in EC, w/that few rds is worth at least $500+.
Add a hunnert or so for s.s. and yer up to $600+
Add a premiunm for the caliber and the "elite" bells and whistles, andyer right about $700.
In comparison, I've seen NIB, last-of-the-lineup, BLUE 10mms being offered at $1200. Go price a NIB COlt in any caliber from a dealer, even yer favorite discount fella. Last price I got on a new .45 was $750
I'd vote for asking $800 and coming down if ya hafta make the sale. In reality, it's still "new", as it hasn't even been broken in yet.
JUst mu $.02 tho,
Paul

Yeah, I never understood the "delta" thing either. I always thought it applied to the 10mm series; untill I saw my first AR delta. O'course, I thought I had to hav a matched set!;)
Apparently the "elite" series encompassed all the top-end, enhanced pistols, and that one rifle. Mebbe the "delta" was a hook to tie into the "Delta" teams???
Best,
Paul

Can you say marketing? I never understood why the DE AR H-BAR was alwasy WAY higher than a standard H-BAR. So when I go my H-BAR I proceded to make it a delta elite. That was about 17 years ago and I still have as yet to get the Tasco Rubber covered scope.

I dont think many people want 10mm's today that dont already own one, or more, so theirs limited demand compaired to other calibers.
After the last 10mm I sold, I know I wont pick another up again, unless dirt cheap.
Just my $.02
Cheers, YOOO VINNY

Well, yovinny is kind of right, there's a limited demand for them but those who want them will pay $$$. I think you have a few types of people who want them: Colt collectors, 10mm diehards, 1911 collectors. Did I miss any?
I fell into mine because the pawnshop that had it had just pulled it, and they were worried about selling a 10mm 1911. Not a bad point for a pawn shop where you never know who will come through the door, but with the internet's gun sites you can really put a pistol like that into the hands of someone who wants one and is willing to pay right now.
Too bad you're not in CA, they really command a premium here because of the really limited supply.
Good luck with finding a buyer, I don't think it will be too hard. If you had box, papers, etc. I'd think you could get a premium. I wish I could buy it for a backup Delta, but with the CA thing...

Worth at least $750 to $900 or more if 2 guys get into a bidding war over it, AMHIK...:uhoh:
Gotta be one of the best 10mm's out there, especially in SS. I'd make ya an offer but I have a bunch of DE's already & the wife would hang me if I bought another......
Nice piece tho'!

Seems like there is always someone in CA looking for a Delta Elite. This request was posted today at CalGuns.net.

Shooter--this is just my personal advice, but I think this might be one of those, "Oh man I should have held onto that one" guns if you sell it. If it were me, I'd hold onto it unless you really need the $$$$$s (which is probably where most of us are right now). I'd put a mercury guide rod and shock buffer in it to protect the frame and shoot it. Mine is one of my favorite pistols and I probably wouldn't take $1K for it. Just my thoughts.

I would put it on one of the auction sites. Here is an open auction for one and there is a bid for 899.99.

Only the most accurate Colt HBAR's were designated Delta HBAR. You were paying approximately $500.00 more for an accuracy selected HBAR with the following accessories:
• Colt marked ARMS scope mount.
• Colt marked cheek piece.
• Colt marked leather sling.
• Tasco rubber armored 3x9 scope.
• Aluminum case.
In 1992, a year after I purchased the Delta HBAR, Colt replaced the Delta HBAR with the Range Selected HBAR. It was only made for one year. It was also selected for superior accuracy and came with the accessories shown below.

Paul,
I bought my Delta HBAR new in 1991. It did not come with the Delta insignia on the pistol grip. I called Colt at the time and they told me they were just stickers and sent me some. I have heard some of the Delta HBAR's have the inlaid insignia just like the Delta Elite pistols, but I have never seen one in person.

BTW, I removed the stock Colt grip and replaced it with a Tubb's slip grip along with a Sierra Precision pistol grip. The stock pistol grip is just to small for my hand and the Tubb's slip grip moves the Grip back 1/2 inch for a better trigger perch.
Here is the same setup on an SR-25.
