1" shorter Para Stock, good idea?

Greetings fellow FALaddicts,

In a few months I'm planning to order a Para lower and stock from DSA.

DSA states that they can shorten para stock for use with body armor etc.

I don't plan on using any armor but the length of pull for the std metric stock
is just a little too long for me. So I was thinking of having them shorten the para stock by about 1/2 to 1 inch. The para lower will go on my full length Imbel.

Then the next choice is to get the DSA internals or save some $$ and have them
install imported internals. My current fire control parts are US DSA. I guess with the new US made para parts I'll still have the 3 US parts I need if I have them use the non-US parts in the para lower. I'd like to leave my current std lower complete in case I want to swap out at some point. I'll have to get another US made pistol grip for the para lower to keep parts count right.

Anybody use a shortened para stock and like it? Don't like it? Any pics?

What's the advantage of DSA para vs. using ACE side-folding kit with SOCOM carbine (adjustable) or M4 6-pos?

DSA says LOP standard stock and para stock is 14.25 inches. However, I've never measured my Imbel stock. There are variations between different mfgrs.

I thought the para stocks were available! I had understood that there was a considerable wait however.

I guess if you used the M4 type stock you could adjust LOP to where you liked it best. Don't know anything about the ACE stock But, in my opinion, only the para stock looks right on an FAL.

Yeah, I agree, only the para style/Galil type look right.

I don't think it is a good idea. You will be punching yourself in the nose with the para block. The standard length para butts do this unless you are careful. I think that it is a mod that you would really regret.

I have a Belgian, Argentine and an Imbel and they are all the same length. The South African R4 butts are longer.
