Welcome to the party rhino!

Would everyone from the Hesse support group please say 'hi' to rhino?

You *may* have simply gotten the wrong spring and mag-catch spring mixed up.

But, it could be that you have a fit problem...mine certainly did. Here's a link to the discussion: http://www.fnfal.com/forums/Forum3/HTML/000986.html

I ended up modifying my mag catch to make it longer to solve the mag drop problem.

Oh..before you do anything...please look at the mag catch nub on the magazine...I have had a t least one that had kind of a 2 step angle on it that was keeping the mag catch from seating all the way and this can also cause mag drop.

peace!

ps - Mr Gary Jeter will be your counseling officer while here at WECSOG...please pick up a syllabus and dremel kit on your way out. http://www.fnfal.com/forums/wink.gif

Hi
I had the same problem 5 days ago with my STG-58 kit. I replaced it with a M1911 plunger Spring and it fixed it.

Take care

Another solution (I suffered the ignominy after swapping to an Inch-pattern magazine release):

Drop a ball-bearing in the receiver boss before you insert the spring. JUST the right amount of takeup, and you don't have to stretch (and thereby damage) the original spring.

I have a Hesse-built FALO-C. LOVE that one (modified by George Gouger, of course)!

I like the M1911 pluger spring idea!

Bwaahhhh-hah-hah-ha-hah!!!!

I have this "peening" method for fixing Hesse receivers. It doesn't work. But, it sure is...how shall I say?...well...satisfying.

Good luck brother. Actually, the aluminum FAL mags fit the mag well really well on my Hesse. Everything else was made for a real FAL.

Some say the Hesse can be "fixed." Please Lord, say it is true.

Ditto on EMDII's fix with the inch mag release. Worked for me perfectly. :)

I have a lid lifter with "Hesse Arms" on it and I was looking at it at dinner tonight!

At least yours might be repairable. Mine was not.

Hi, my name is an unpronounceable word that starts with a 'Z.' My sister started calling me Zoom, and it stuck. So, call me Zoom. I too have the Hesse "problem." Unlike your pants that fall down, err mags. You said mags, didn't you? My Hesse requires a hard shove to insert any of the mags I've tried. I wonder what kind of micrometer Hesse uses. It must have a little consistency problem, like I do sometimes.

There is a screw on the left bottom of the receiver you might want to remove. It holds in the bolt hold open and the mag catch. After removing it, you can then pull the mag release out to study it. After you do that, you might be able to give us enough info to better help you.z
