I've been trying to find information about the construction of an efficient incinerator to burn my trash. I would like to burn without emitting a lot of smoke, so some sort of an afterburner to eliminate the smoke is desireable.
I have no trash collection and I don't want to throw the trash into a pile on the ground and burn it as the neighbors do. I don't want to pollute my well, my ground or the stream that runs near my house either.
Thanks.

a friend of mine uses a 55 gallon drum with holes punched in it , sitting up on cinder blocks ,if he has anything smoky to burn he burns that after dark , he also has the burn area behind the barn where its out of site from most directions.

If your neighbors are allready burn chances are that if any polution can make it to the ground water, it allready has.

Fortunately I'm further up the mountain than they are.

A friend of mine burned up an entire house on his property using a 55 gallon drum and an air compressor. He had galvanized pipe with a quick disconect. It was amazing to see how fast it burned when it could really breath.

THAT IS REALLY THE KEY TO ANY GOOD FIRE, IT HAS TO BREATHE!
Years and years ago I saw a set of plans showing a homebuiolt trash incincerator that used a squirrel cage blower rescued from a discarded window AC unit. The builder/user stated that 90% of the time the blower ran at the lowest speeds and was a minimal draw on his battery bank. It vwas only when he had large quantities of thick stock to burn that he had to use thr higher blower speed.
If I can find the article/plans, I'll scan them and make it available by email.

Gunsmoke,
I'd appreciate that.
