talking to Andy at Century yesterday, they have about 240,000 of them left. What are they good for? Is the steel good enough to grind into a decent knife? there is a great business opportunity there...

i doubt you can make much of them
the issue i notice first is the weird curve in the blade... to grind that to anything useful is gonna make the blade awfully skinny
they seem well made, and toledo has a good reputation for knifemaking (the bayo's i've seen are all stamped with a company in Toledo, Spain)
the sheaths are pretty tough, but they tend to tear the finish on the blade up pretty well. On the flip side they hold it in tightly enough that you don't have to wory about it.
240,000 bayos? Did they even make that many CETME's? Geez, that's a lot of bayos.

It wouldn't suprise me if you bought a bunch that you could get them for a few bucks a piece. They are invoicing them at $6 with this ammo deal, and have been giving them away with any other bayonet purchase.

Last month or so a vendor, maybe J&G was selling these 10 for $20 or some super low price.

Hey they look pretty sporty on my FR-8. Don't forget they fit them too!

I tried to buy a decent sized lot of them, but they wouldn't go below the $6 each price. So I ordered a bunch of Indian ammo and got one for free... :D
I too have one hanging off the end of my FR-8. Perhaps it's a WI thing...:whiskey:

That curved blade edge makes for a good slashing knife. Seems to be a particularly Spanish affectation. I knew a fellow who had one of these years ago (long before the CETME kit rage) and he had fashioned it into bad ass fighting knife. Dunno where he got it, somewhere south of the Border.
