Welcome to the FAL FiLES.

As for as which rings (how high) you will need is not as easy at seems over the net. Several factors will affect the choice....type of mount, eye relief, bell diameter, your stock weld.

If you have all the parts in hand except the rings, try some older rings to test mount the scope and see where the conflicts are going to be. On one of mine, I used the highest rings I felt comfortable with and still had to remove the rear sight for clearance.

I've used mediums on my 3~9X40 nikon, so that's probably a good starting point.
It will fit with low rings, but the eye position is really uncomfortable.
Try this if you have a bunch of old rings.
attach the lower halves, sit the scope in them held with a couple of strong rubber bands.
Now assume the most usual shooting positions & see how it is.
its easy to swithc back & forth this way, 7 once you have the right eye relief & height combo you can finish mounting the tops of the rings.

I found that low rings made for an uncomfortable head position and prefer medium rings.

Imbel FAL W/ ARMS Scope mount and Leopold 3x9x40.
