I have a 6X Hensoldt with integral Stanag mount that I would like to place atop either a FAL with a DSA heavy duty rail mount, or an ARMS #18 situated on a M1A.

Any suggestions as to how I should proceed mounting a Stanag scope to a Picatinney rail? (The configuration of the Hensoldt with Stanag will not simply allow me to install rings, and then mount to the Picatinney.)

Any ideas?

ARMS make a STANAG/M1913 adapter.

VOILA!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise!

I have ordered the ARMS mount.

For mounting a STANAG scope on the ARMS #18 mount on an M1A, I have used the ARMS #19 (the non ACOG #19), but I personally have only used ARMS STANAG rings on the #19 and have not mounted a STANAG scope on the #19. It should work, since the #19 has a STANAG base.

Whether your particular scope will fit reasonably well is another question. You will have to see whether the ocular bell clears the M1A rear sight, whether the objective bell clears the handguards (you stated your scope is 6x, so I assume it is 6 x 42) and whether you wind up with acceptable eye-relief. You may not be able to move the scope forward or back to fit your eye-relief as you would with regular rings.

The #19 did mate with my #18, but I have the older #18 that has a split base. Presumably, the #19 should mate just as well with the newer, solid base #18, if that is what you have.

I don't know whether the ARMS #7 illustrated above will work with either the old or new style #18 base. It may, but you'd have to investigate.
