View Full Version : Inch Safety Lever on Metric FAL

I know this has been asked and answered before, but my search function doesn't work.
I handled a DSA STG-58 Type 2 kit rifle today. Outstanding.
I didn't like the safety selector lever, much prefer the British inch pattern one as it is easier to rach and manipulate with my hadn in the firing position, and I like the mag release on the British L1A1 better.
Can these two parts be fitted to a metric FAL like the DSA or the Imbel?
If so, what other parts are needed?
TIA.

Should be able to pop the metric selector out and pop the inch in. The mag release-I think the inch requires a longer screw and different spring, or a bb beneath the metric spring.

The inch selector has two long arms that are 180 degrees apart. The arm opposite the thumb handle has to be cut or the selector will not function on a metric lower. The other option is to cut the stop pin off the metric lower in which case the inch selector will operate properly. The inch mag release will drop right in but make sure you have a inch screw for mounting as it's head protrudes from the receiver and acts as a pivot for the release. I have an inch selector already cut in good condition that you can have for $35.00 shipped to you. Will need refinishing to match your rifle.

DSA, for both the mag release screw and the mag release.

All you gotta do to get an inch selector to work on a metric receiver WITHOUT ANY MODS to the selctor is to knock that little peg off the side of the metric receiver. A screwdriver and a hammer knocks the peg right off.
