Gotta be the Leapers (TAPCO) mounts if they are 4th gen. Milled from one piece of T6 aluminum they have great return to zero attributes as well as no internal tabs to break, crack or get in the way of the carrier. Just slide them on and snug the screws. I have them at:

These are extremely well made. And are a real bargain at less than $60.00 with shipping. I use them (Both the stripper clip type and the standard) on all my FALs that have optics.

Check my feedback and reviews.........................

Buy from vendors that support this board!!!! Like us! :)

I have the stripper clip variety of that mount, but have not assembled my rifle yet.

Does anyone know the max length of scope I could use and not interfere with the top loading of stripper clips? It looks like if I got too long of a scope, I would not be able to load from the top.

Doesn't jumping through CA gun law hoops sound like fun?

California used to be fun to visit. But I guess as a visitor, I don't have to put up with your gun laws.

On the stripper clip mount, you can not have a sighting device sticking forward beyond the stripper clip guide. That limits your sighting device to a short red dot or holosight, maybe a SUIT or ELCAN. All the conventional scopes are too long, with the shortest being about 7".

edit: James GPG says it right. The 4th Generation TAPCO mount is an improvement over the 3rd Gen that I have, and have no problems with.

That's what I figured, but I also saw this picture of a decent scope mounted on the same type of stripper clip cover, any idea of the make/model/size?

I saw that on the surplus rifle page HERE (http://www.surplusrifle.com/reviews/tapcofalscopemount/index.asp)

Until I get my receiver, I can't really measure the exact distance that I'll be able to use. Hopefully I can find something similar to that one.
