Ummm...I think it was "Number 23."
Note the discreet number painted on the stock.

Yeah, that's......... uh........ interesting. Different. I've seen realtree camo, arctic camo, urban camo. First time I've seen landfill camo.

now you need to throw it into the hawg pen for a week or two, to get the receiver to match the rest of the kit

Or swish it around a bit in the septic tank and then bake at 350 for 90 minutes.
Serves 20.....then you change mags! ;)

Gary,
My first (build) looked sorta like that. She has the SA cammo, she had about 10 sets of numbers (like one we would part out if common sense prevailed), but I built it. I cut the barrel and parked her. The stocks look like a proud Rhodisian was carrying her, but she now shoots like some bolt actions. The barrel looked worn and spotty, the bolt and carrier fell away from each other, and I wished she could talk. Now she only barks, 1.25-1.5moa, my best shooting FAL. She ain't pretty, but she would ruin my day if pointed in my direction. She is lovely, she shoots, she is reliable, but she has this god-awful paint all over her. We could have pretty and awful, nah, I choose her instead. Appearance ain't function (I guess that is why my wife love's me) Still.

Well, I thought gary's rifle looked pretty good. Not sure about the front sling swivel, none of my R1s ever came with one. Looking good anyway. (And that hidden number is kinda neat.) Except for the camo color, it's just like one of my own that I left beat-up for use as a knockaround gun, right down to the un-camo'ed receiver. I even left that awful loooooong stock on mine (yes it's awful and I'm 6'1".) These may be beaters, but they have character.

But that AK... oh, brudder... oh oh oh...

GARY, YA GOTTA MAKE A FAL LIKE THAT!! TAKE IT TO THE RANGE!! BRING YOUR CHICKEN MITT TOO!!!

BUHAHAHAHAHA!! :D :D

You're bringin out the cruffler in me! I would only touch up the paint to match and hit the worn spots. The "cherry" matching numbers R1 is sweet in it's own right. Seeing .Jeter's in "rack" configuration just gives me wood. I like the two 'fer method of collecting. One in factory condition and one in field condition. Rock on man.

How to get a few cans of the paint they used?

She's numbered eight ways to Sunday.

There's the 23 in camo.

Then there's this side with the 98 (or is it 86?)

AND there is still another really big painted-over number 952 on the stock on this side. You can't see it in the pic. But it bulges up really conspicuously through the paint.

Then there are the metal parts. 5-digit numbers comprised mostly of three's.

Finally, the matching armorer's renumbered parts.

I like.

Wish I could keep it. I just get to play with it for a while.

Dude, I know you wouldn't dilute the artistic statement of the piece with alteration, but in case you would like to accessorize, I have available, at no cost to you, a set of authentic, African painted handguards, in wood.
They are, quite simply, too ugly for me.
For you, apparently, ugly is boundless and unfettered, and so, if you like, PM me your address, and I will send you what may be an Ofili original, "Madonna Mombasa, with Sherwyn Williams"
