Any tricks for removing the frame locking lever? I'm wanting to completely strip the lower in preparation for sand blasting and refinishing. Thanks!

I found this completely by trial and error. I never read a book but:
PUT YOUR SAFETY GLASSES ON
1. There is a small screw/pin on the very back of the lower. Take this out. I think this screw holds the take down lever in place.
2. Remove the cross pin in the lower. It has an hour glass shape. BEWARE, it is under pressure from a spring and will fly. A shop rag will catch the parts nicely.
3. The pluger, spring, and lever will now come out.
Did I leave anything out?

Check his question on Basic Disassembly.
I put a post there about this.
Like you, I discovered a different way to do this. I tried it your way which is also what the manual calls for but found mine to be easier. No springs flying around.
