Went to my second tactical carbine match today. Used my para FAL with an Eotech. Sight is less than a year old. Has maybe 150 rounds under it's belt. Today it started blinking out and turning itself off and on while I was shooting. I'm hoping it is battery related 'cuz this is the AA model.

Are Eotechs tuff enough for FAL abuse or are they better suited for mouse guns?

TIA,

The problem you describe is due to low batteries. With high recoil rifles, like those shooting .308, often the first indication of low batteries is blinking after recoil. Does the reticle blink when you first turn it on?

My EoTech 552 has been used on my FALs exclusively. I have had two problems. First, my batteries kept draining because I wasn't turning it all the way off when I was finished. The other is with ejecting cases gouging the lower rail when I have it directly over the ejection port.

I had an Eotech on a FAL for some time without any problems.
What you're describing sounds like low batteries.

A friend of mine had two go out on Fals at a class with very little use. Him an his dad had the same thing happen but just quit working new batteries didn't help. Eotech replaced them for nothing and he hasn't had a problem since.

Its the batteries. I have had one on a 16" G1 carbine for over 5K rounds with not a problem, except for that time I forgot to change the batteries. It withstood everything except the corner of a loaded ammo can. Nice thing about that, is they replaced it for cheap (dropping an 50 lb ammo can on them is definitely NOT covered by the warranty. I read the fine print.)

+1 low battery indicator......put some lithiums in it

I have read that folks are running EOtechs on much bigger rigs(read: Barret 50's) in the sandbox, replacing the higher mag optics when transitioning to MOUT for faster f/u shot placement with less obstructive FOV. They are using them on the M249's too....YMMV

I changed the batteries and the display definetly looks better. It looks like that was the problem. Thanks.

Also if your going to use the Eotech in COld weather than you need to use Lithium Battery....
