ATN 5X33LU SCOPE ON QD PRO MOUNT W/MILLETT ADJUSTABLE HIGH RINGS

Has anyone else used one of these scopes? I have one and like it so far. I did have some trouble attaching the .308 cam though. The instructions are rather vauge but you HAVE to turn the inner ring the cam tightens to "back" one notch or when you mount the .308 cam you can not make it to the 500 yard range mark. They ALL come with a .223 cam installed. I think it mentions that in the instructions in one sentence in a form that is not undestandable or does not make sense. I missed that step when trying to install mine but a fellow FAL files member helped me out and explained it in American English and all is well now.
The scope is made of some sort of aluminum or non-magnetic material but for some reason it is on the rather heavy side, weight wise. That is about my only gripe, the weight. Otherwise it has worked fine for me so far. The illumination is fine with 11 steps of brightness and uses the coin sized lithium battery that lasts 100 hours.
I liked the Butler Creek Blizzard see thru scope covers that pop up with a nudge of the finger on the edge of the flip part. I choose #7's. The back #7 fits the diopter rubber ring just fine and actually the rubber on the cover covers up the diopter gap too. On the front a #6 is too tight and a #7 is just a wee but loose. A black cable tie took care of that slight looseness and matches just fine! The Millett adjustable rings are NOT necessary, some ATN scopes do require adjustable rings, but not the 5x33 series. I just already had them and used them and they work just fine.

Even though ATN's literature states that ATN scopes adjust similar to the POSP type scopes, ie., move reticule to bullet hole when sighting in the scope, this is not the case with the 5x33mm series. They adjust just like our American scopes do, fire a shot and see where the bullet lands and then dial in on the knobs the direction and distance needed to get the bullet hole to the center. When changing ranges on the scope the reticule does not move like a POSP type of scope, the entire image moves up and down. No problem with this it is just another way of making a BDC type of scope.
A buddy of mine just ordered himself one he liked mine so well. 5 is a good all around power and 33 mm is big enough for a good bright sight picture but not too damn big to feel like you are packing a mini-Hubble. ACT Optics had them for $209 a couple of weeks ago, not a bad price at all for what you are getting. :D
