I have an inch FAL and Im wanting to get a SUIT scope for it that I can use when im hunting. I like being able to use iron sights if I need to and I was wondering if after taking the SUIT off of its mount would I still be able to use my Iron sights? I have the Brittish L1A1 flip up rear sight on my gun.

Yes, you would be able to use the iron sights with the dustcover mount still in place.

I have an STG 58 with dust cover SUIT mount. My iron sights are fixed....and when I remove the scope, I cannot use the iron sights.

The metric sights don't flip up and so won't see over the SUIT mount bar.

The entire sight plane of the L1A1 is higher than the metric rifles.
This allows you to use the irons with the SUIT removed. The folding rear sight gets it down out of the way of the SUIT eyepiece and also protects it from damage. Easy to flip up when needed.

If you are using a metric gun you can just change the dustcovers instead.
