FWIW....Tapco has new SUIT sight mounts that clamp onto a Weaver base.
These are only $5.99
That is cheap enough just to buy one for the parts bin, in case.

Yep, they're in the closeout list. Buy now or forever hold your peace.
Let us know what you think of yours.

Well as I started this mess off I guess I should at least post here:biggrin:
Some time back I bought the Tapco unit, and had the devil's own time getting the Izzy SUIT to fit it, actually it never did fit it & I ended up returning it & buying a mil-spec one form somewhere else.
This is what made me such a flippin' expert on burgered up SUIT mounts!
To be fair there is a thread somewhere about Tapco having made modifications, but I have no experience of the newer units.
I'd ask them if these bargain basement specials are the modified ones or not, & base my go/no go decision on that.

Well I just received my TAPCO mount today. They say it is machined blah blah blah, but I don't see any machine marks. Just looks like it is cast.
However. it does make my SUIT scope mount a little tighter than the other two types of mounts that I have.

Hi,
I just received two Tapco mounts for my SUIT and the fit is bloody crap! Unusable. The sight will not sit tight, or even come close to it. In fact, I could pull it off without too much effort even after everything is clamped down as it should be.
Is this normal? I think not.
Is there anything else out there on the market? Or have I just wasted my money buying a Suit sight for my Para FN?
I hope someone can help
Cheers

Is your SUIT an izzy one?
They have an extra spring under the scope base. Sometimes this spring fouls the hook part of the mount.

Not sure mate,
The only way to get it to fit tight is to wind the elevation screw up to max, which is obviously no good.
This seems to be the same for the M16 mount it came with....Hang on, does that means it's an Izzy one then?

The easiest way to tell is that the Izzy has a few differences from the brit one:
There is a screw holding the quik release tab (just in front of the front lens.)
The springs are figure 8 shaped (the brit one is kind of zig zag).
If you look under the mount & there is a coil spring & a "hook"
If you have the spring/hook under the sight it fouls the "hook" on the mount.
try removing this spring with a pair of nnedle nose pliers. Sometimes that works.
A good clue is a worn, shiny patch about 1/8" below the hook on the mount on the front edge.
What happens is that the extra hook gets hung up on the mount so nothing fits right.
Theres a thread somewher about this with pictures. I'll try to find it & post a link.
