I don't handle authority well,... but at least I admit it.

Having someone nominate themselves should be a sure sign to pass them up.

Seriously, I would love to be a mod. I have about 10 years of past experience in the retail firearms industry and a big part of that was installing optics, buying optics as a purchasing agent and dealing with optics manufacturers and vendors, and basically just using optics as a normal part of my shooting routine. I think I am level headed, fairly thick skinned, and a judicious decision maker. I am a retired police officer and now spend a lot of my time shooting and building. My falfiles reputation pretty much speaks for itself having never flamed anyone and offering to help others.

All the folks that have been mentioned would be excellent mods. I just thought I would throw my name in the pot for a nomination.

Eighteen people commenting / nominating ? Not a big voter turnout. Interesting (to me) bytes from a FTF conversation on this subject :

Mod should have a fairly long tenure on the Files. This to eliminate the whining due to a "noob" being selected.

Mod should not have ever been an instigator of a dispute. (A TANGIBLE dispute, not an argument over random BS)

Mod should be willing to tolerate the PM's, emails and other communication that WILL come their way after selection. LOTS of it will be petty whining.

Mod need not know about optics.

Mod SHOULD know the board rules.

SWMBO will appoint Mod when she gets good and ready.

Mod selection will cause great gnashing of teeth and shrill keening.

Gnashing and keening will be laughed at and then ignored along with the other garbage posted on here regularly.

I dont see were being a Vendor really matters! Since as long as they are not pushing their business on folks in the forum where they moderate then who care's! Since their are a lot of vendors here that would make great Mods since they are very knowledgeable. But Hell this is the Fal Files, and we do have our own way of doing things! I found six forums you moderate just while doing a bit of reading. Not enough to keep you busy? Maybe give someone new a try at it.

I noticed that close to half of the forums here don't have a moderator, or at least any listed. Why does this one need one.

Good point!...although I think it may be best served if someone with experience in optics moderates in order to separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. It hard to judge without knowing anyones level of experience.You've made a good case for yourself though and so far instr8 you've got my vote.
